My Current Go-To Paint Colors
I thought it would be fun to share with you a glimpse into my current go-to colors. You can find a
combination of these colors in a majority of the paintings I have been creating for the past several months.
I am often drawn to soft and delicate color palettes, I think in large part because these colors create a
calming and peaceful atmosphere. We can all use a little more of that
in our lives right?
Give me all the greens, peaches, and neutrals! I typically use a variety of brands, but recently I have
really been enjoying Golden brand paints. Golden has an
absolutely stunning collection of pastel color acrylic paints and I love them all.
So for all of you who love to play with paint and color, here are my current go to
colors and supplies:
My go to peachy colors:
Heavy Body: Light orange, Titan Mars Pale, Indian yellow hue, C.P. Cadmium Yellow Primrose
High Flow: Quinacridone Nickel azo gold, yellow oxide, Alizarin Crimson Hue
My go to greens:
Heavy Body: Titan Green Pale, Jenkins Green, Chromium Oxide Green Dark, blue gray
High Flow: Sap Green Hue, Green Gold
My go to neutrals:
Heavy Body: Titanium white, Titan Buff, Titan Violet Pale (a bit on the purple side, but I still consider it a
neutral for my use), Neutral Gray
High Flow: Titanium white, Titan Buff
Mixing high flow acrylics and heavy body acrylics is so much fun because you can create a lot of
movement in a painting. High Flows spread like magic when water is added and it gives such a beautiful
creamy effect when mixed with heavy body acrylics.
My favorite way to add little spots of blended colors or pops of color is by using transparent paint or high
flow acrylics. These add such depth to a painting because it builds upon the layer
below while allowing the under layer to still show through a bit.
I want to invite you to step into my studio for a few minutes to see a current painting in progress where I am using the majority of the heavy body and high flow acrylics I have mentioned above!
